Investing in Africa’s Sustainable Growth

Undoubtedly, one of the most rewarding events in recent weeks was co-hosting a roundtable with Mahdiah El-Jed and DIFC at the Dubai FinTech Summit to discuss ‘Investing in Africa for Sustainable Growth’.

We brought together a thoughtfully selected group of experts and change-makers – voices with genuine insights and practical solutions to help accelerate purpose-driven investment across the African continent. The energy, depth of dialogue, and shared commitment in the room was truly exciting (and I don’t say that often about events!).

This is very much the beginning of a bigger journey – especially as we look to the role that UAE is increasingly playing as an investor in African countries. Even more so when we think about how that investment can support transformative growth that is anchored in sustainable and equitable development.

One number I keep coming back to: recent UNDP analysis shows that if just 3.7% of the world’s $100 trillion in institutional assets under management were invested in Africa annually, it would be enough to close the continent’s SDG financing gap. THIS IS HARD TO IGNORE …
